NEW PROVISIONS ON MARRIAGE INVOLVING FOREIGN ELEMENTS FROM 1/1/2016

  Law on Civil Status No. 60/2014/QH13 will take effect from 1/1/2016. Accordingly, procedure of marriage involving foreign elements will be changed.
  In Nha Trang, Vu Nhu Hao and Associates Lawyer Office provides legal service on consulting of marriage involving foreign elements. We would like to aggregate the new provisions on marriage involving foreign elements from 1/1/2016.
  First, competence of marriage registration:
  Before competence of marriage involving foreign elements registration is belong to Department of Justice. However, from 1/1/2016 competence of marriage registration regulated at Article 33. Accordingly, People’s Committee at the district level is competent agency of marriage involving foreign elements registration. This provision will reduce cost and time for citizen.
  Second, procedure of marriage registration:
  Law on Civil Status removed interview procedure. It makes time of marriage registration reduce 15 days. Under before provision, time of marriage registration is 25 days.
